Albumin excreted in the urine (Microalbumin) is a sensitive marker of nephropathy. It is used to screen for early renal disease, particularly in diabetic patients.
Special Instructions
Specify total volume of 24‑hour collection on both the container and test requisition. Avoid exercise for 24 hours prior to collection; note collection instructions regarding potential elevation factors (e.g., exercise, infection, fever, CHF, hyperglycemia, hypertension). Refrigerate collection during and after.
