Cheddar Cheese (f81) IgE
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test measures specific IgE antibodies to proteins in cheddar cheese, helping identify sensitization indicative of a potential IgE-mediated allergy to cheddar cheese. It is intended to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing and managing suspected food allergic reactions related to dairy products.
Special Instructions
No special patient preparation or dietary restrictions are required; collection is via blood draw without fasting. The test is available via Quest Diagnostics and may be ordered by providers or patients in many U.S. locations.
Limitations
Testing detects sensitization but does not confirm clinical allergy: positive results should be interpreted in the context of patient history. False positives are possible; absence of IgE does not rule out non–IgE-mediated reactions.
