Clinical Use

Intended for identification of cases of congenital or neonatal syphilis in infants ≤6 months (or ≤1 year, depending on location) of age by detecting IgG and IgM antibodies to Treponema pallidum using fluorescent treponemal antibody assays.
Special Instructions
Specimen must be from an individual ≤6 months of age (Quest directory) or ≤1 year of age (Rady Children’s summary). For individuals >6 (or >1) months of age, test code 4112 FTA‑ABS should be used. Set‑up days are Tuesday through Saturday.
