Also known as: Hageman Factor
Use
Measures the activity of clotting Factor XII (Hageman factor) to aid in the diagnosis of deficiencies associated with prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), which may be inherited or acquired. Interference is minimal from anticoagulants such as warfarin, heparin, dabigatran, argatroban, rivaroxaban, and apixaban. Often used in evaluation of bleeding or thrombosis disorders.

Collection Instructions
Centrifuge blue‑top within 60 minutes of collection. Separate plasma and FREEZE immediately. If using butterfly collection set, fill a 1 mL waste tube before blue‑top. Tube must be filled to capacity. Draw by vacuum. Do not overfill. If collecting multiple factor studies, draw each in separate tube.
Storage Instructions
Send specimen frozen in plastic vial; do not refrigerate.
Causes for Rejection
Hemolyzed specimens are not acceptable. Avoid lipemia.
