Malt (f90) IgE
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
The Malt (f90) IgE test measures IgE antibodies to proteins in malt, typically derived from germinated barley used in foods and beverages. Elevated IgE levels may indicate an allergic sensitization or allergic reaction to malt, helping healthcare providers diagnose possible food allergy triggers and guide management through dietary avoidance and treatment strategies. This test can support patient evaluation for malt allergy in the context of compatible clinical symptoms such as hives, itching, gastrointestinal or respiratory manifestations.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Although elevated IgE antibodies to malt suggest sensitization, this result alone cannot confirm clinical allergy or predict reaction severity. Interpretation must be made by a healthcare provider in conjunction with clinical history, other diagnostic tests (e.g., skin-prick testing), and symptom correlation.
