Voltage‑Gated Potassium Channel (VGKC) Antibody
Also known as: VGKC
Use
This test screens for voltage‑gated potassium channel (VGKC) complex‑associated autoantibodies, used to evaluate patients for suspected autoimmune neurological disorders such as VGKC antibody‑mediated encephalitis. It cannot distinguish between CASPR2 or LGI1 subtypes but may be useful for follow‑up in antibody‑positive individuals after immunotherapy or plasmapheresis.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Does not distinguish specific target proteins (LGI1, CASPR2) within the VGKC complex; interpretation may require follow‑up testing to further characterize antibody specificity.
