Adenovirus (Type 40/41), Direct Detection EIA
Use
Rapid detection of adenovirus (type 40/41) from stool specimens of patients suspected of having viral gastroenteritis
Special Instructions
It is important to ensure proper specimen collection and transport to avoid sample rejection. Use only specified containers and adhere to correct storage instructions to maintain specimen integrity. Be aware of potential causes for rejection, including the use of bacterial swabs, diapers, incorrect labeling, transport at room temperature, or inappropriate specimen transport devices.
Limitations
This test is specific for adenovirus serotypes 40/41, and may not detect other types of adenovirus. Possible cross-reactivity with other enteric pathogens should be considered. Improper specimen handling can affect test performance. Delays in processing may result in a need for repeat testing. This assay does not provide information on viral load or disease prognosis.
