PAB has 90% specificity and 30% sensitivity for Crohn's Disease.
Special Instructions
This test is currently not approved for use in New York state. When submitting multiple tests on frozen samples, separate frozen specimens should be sent for each test requested to avoid any delays in turnaround time.
Limitations
Despite having high specificity, the sensitivity of pancreatic antibodies for Crohn's Disease is relatively low at 30%. Therefore, a negative result does not rule out the presence of the disease. Test results should be considered in conjunction with other clinical findings and diagnostic results. Further confirmatory or reflex testing may be required in certain cases.
