Use

BCL-2 by Immunohistochemistry is performed as a stain‑and‑return technical service, useful for detecting BCL‑2 protein expression in tissue or cell specimens prepared via cellblock or paraffin embedding. This staining assists pathologists in assessing apoptosis regulation patterns, such as in lymphomas, though interpretation is handled separately (note: this is a technical component only).

Special Instructions

Submit via electronic request or use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) if electronic ordering is unavailable. Refer to the Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure. This test is New York state approved. Specimens should be formalin‑fixed (10% neutral buffered) and paraffin‑embedded or prepared as cellblock; shipping should avoid excessive heat, and tissue blocks or at least 5 unstained positively‑charged slides (3–5 µm, min 2 slides) must be sent in ARUP transport kit #47808. Do not oven bake precut slides.

Limitations

Specimens that are depleted or non‑representative tissue types are unacceptable. Frozen specimens are not suitable. Specimen stability is indefinite at ambient or refrigerated temperatures, but frozen storage is unacceptable. Interpretation is not included in this service.
