Chimerism, Posttransplant, Sorted Cells (B Cells)

Use
This test is used to monitor engraftment of donor cells following an allogeneic stem cell transplant. It evaluates the presence and proportion of donor and recipient cells in the patient by using chimerism testing. Chimerism analysis is critical for assessing graft success and guiding post-transplant interventions.
Special Instructions
Each posttransplant specimen and test ordered must have a unique ARUP accession number. Posttransplant genotypes are compared to pretransplant recipient and donor genotypes. Donor and recipient specimens must be genotyped before the transplant event. Ship specimens overnight and ensure they are received within 24 hours if cell sorting is required.
Limitations
The test has a limit of detection of 2 percent for minor cell populations, which may affect detection sensitivity in samples with very low donor cell fractions. Diagnostic errors can occur due to rare sequence variations, which may impact the accuracy of the results.
