Assist in the diagnosis of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia
Special Instructions
To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
Limitations
HIPA results should not be the sole basis for establishing the diagnosis of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. Microbial contamination, lipemia, icterus, or hemolysis may interfere with this test. Immune complexes or immunoglobulin aggregates in the patient sample can produce false-positive results. Heparin in the sample (>1 unit/mL) can produce false-negative results.
