Use
Use in appropriate high-risk patients (e.g., type 2 diabetes mellitus) where LDL particle number is used to guide therapy. This test provides detailed information on various lipoprotein particle counts and sizes, which are used to tailor lipid-lowering treatments in specific populations. Not recommended for cardiovascular disease risk assessment in most individuals, for whom a standard Lipid Panel is preferred.
Special Instructions
Patients are required to fast for 12 hours prior to specimen collection to ensure the accuracy of the test results. Specimens must be collected in a Greiner Bio-One Clot Activator Tube and subsequently separated and transferred to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
Limitations
This test is not recommended for general cardiovascular disease risk assessment. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA and is performed under CLIA certification. Performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories.

Gently invert tube to mix contents and allow to clot at room temperature. Separate serum from cells within 8 hours.
