Allergen, Epidermals and Animal Proteins, Budgerigar Droppings (Parakeet)
Also known as: PARA DROP
Use
This test is used to detect specific IgE antibodies against Budgerigar droppings (parakeet), which may be involved in allergic reactions. The presence and concentration of specific IgE antibodies might indicate sensitization to this allergen and contribute to allergic conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis. Results from this test should be interpreted alongside clinical history and exposure details.
Special Instructions
Avoid multiple patient encounters to ensure accurate results. Serum should be transferred to the appropriate container quickly to preserve the serum quality. For comprehensive allergen orders, review the specialized collection instructions provided by the lab.
Limitations
The presence of allergen-specific IgE as measured by this test does not always correlate with clinical allergy or predict the severity of an allergic reaction upon exposure. False positives or negatives may occur, and results should be correlated with the patient's clinical history and other allergy tests. A negative result does not entirely rule out the possibility of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.
