E077-IgE Budgerigar Droppings
Use
The E077-IgE Budgerigar Droppings test is used to measure specific IgE antibodies to budgerigar droppings. This test can be helpful in diagnosing allergies in patients who experience symptoms after exposure to budgerigar droppings. These symptoms may include respiratory issues or skin reactions in sensitized individuals.
Special Instructions
This test is performed using the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® methodology, which is a specific Immunoassay method for measuring IgE antibodies. When ordering the test, ensure that the specimen is collected in a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube, and the volume of serum required is 0.2 mL.
Limitations
The test is specific to IgE antibodies. It does not diagnose all types of allergic reactions, and a negative result does not rule out other forms of allergy. The presence of specific IgE antibodies indicates sensitization, but clinical correlation with patient symptoms and history is necessary to confirm an allergy. It is important to note that the ImmunoCAP® method used in this test is specific for IgE and may not detect other immunoglobulin types.
