Allergen, Epidermals and Animal Proteins, Goat Epithelium IgE
Also known as: GOAT EPI
Use
This test measures the concentration of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) specific to goat epithelium, helping in the diagnosis of allergic reactions to goats. The presence and level of specific IgE can assist in identifying allergic conditions and correlating clinically with symptoms like asthma, rhinitis, and anaphylaxis. It is important for assessing the potential of allergic responses to goat exposure.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure accurate results. Proper specimen collection and handling instructions should be followed for accurate test results.
Limitations
Results within the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are indeterminate and intended for specialist interpretation as clinical relevance is undetermined. Increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE do not always correlate with symptoms or skin test results. Negative results do not rule out clinical allergy or anaphylaxis as IgE levels may not fully depict patient reactions.
