Allergen, Food, Apricot
Also known as: APRICOT
Use
The Allergen, Food, Apricot test is designed to quantitatively measure IgE antibodies specific to apricot allergen using the ImmunoCAP Fluorescent Enzyme Immunoassay technique. The presence and level of IgE antibodies directed against apricot can help in assessing the likelihood of a clinical allergy to apricot. This test is critical for aiding in the diagnosis of food allergies, especially in cases where food-triggered allergic responses are suspected but need to be confirmed through laboratory testing.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test. It is crucial to follow the specimen collection and handling instructions carefully, as improper handling can lead to specimen rejection.
Limitations
The test results, particularly in the ranges of 0.10-0.34 kU/L, need to be interpreted with caution as the clinical relevance of these values remains undetermined. Moreover, the concentration of allergen-specific IgE might not always correlate with clinical symptoms or skin test results. Additionally, a negative result does not entirely rule out an allergy or anaphylactic reaction. Thus, results should be combined with clinical history and in vivo tests for comprehensive evaluation.
