Use
The Allergen, Food, Broccoli test is used to measure the specific IgE antibodies against broccoli allergens in the patient's serum. It helps in assessing the potential of an IgE-mediated allergic reaction. The results are beneficial for allergists to correlate with clinical history and in vivo reactivity for a comprehensive allergy assessment. Although the test measures increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE, these concentrations do not necessarily correlate with the severity of allergic symptoms or skin test results, underscoring the importance of clinical correlation.
Special Instructions
For accurate results, serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible, ideally within 2 hours of collection. Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to prevent variations in test results due to differing conditions at each encounter. Limitations
The results should be interpreted carefully, particularly in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L, where clinical relevance is undetermined and intended for specialist interpretation. Also, negative results do not fully exclude the possibility of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. It is crucial to integrate laboratory allergy test results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to precisely determine the presence and extent of an allergy.
