Allergen, Food, Nectarine IgE
Also known as: NECTAR IGE
Use
The Allergen, Food, Nectarine IgE test is used to assess the presence of Immunoglobulin E antibodies specific to nectarines in the patient's serum. This test helps in diagnosing allergic reactions related to nectarines, which involves an increase in specific IgE antibodies. Test results may guide clinicians in developing appropriate management plans for individuals experiencing adverse reactions upon exposure to nectarine allergens.
Special Instructions
Please review the Specimen Collection and Handling Instructions to ensure adequate volume for allergen testing. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Test is not performed at ARUP; separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
Limitations
The Allergen, Food, Nectarine IgE test may not capture all forms of allergic reactions, as it specifically measures IgE mediated responses. Non-IgE mediated allergic reactions or intolerances will not be identified. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens may lead to erroneous results. Variability in antibody levels can occur due to several factors including recent allergen exposure, patient age, and overall health.
