Allergen, Food, Perch IgE
Also known as: PERCH
Use
The Allergen, Food, Perch IgE test is essential for identifying and quantifying allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against perch. It is designed to aid in the diagnosis of food allergies, especially in patients presenting symptoms consistent with an allergic reaction to fish proteins. The quantification of IgE levels can provide insights into the sensitivity and potential allergic reaction severity, assisting healthcare providers in developing patient management strategies and allergy avoidance protocols.
Special Instructions
Please ensure that the serum is separated from cells as soon as possible and within 2 hours of collection. It is crucial to transfer the specified volume into an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for accurate test results. Multiple specimens are required if multiple tests are ordered.
Limitations
This test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories; it is carried out by Eurofins Viracor, and as such, there may be variability in turnaround times depending on the external laboratory's workload and scheduling. Additionally, results obtained using the Quantitative Enzyme Immunoassay method have not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which may affect test reliability. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens are unacceptable, potentially leading to delayed diagnoses or the need for re-collection if such specimens are submitted.
