Allergen, Food, Pineapple
Also known as: PINEAPPLE
Use
This test is used to measure the level of allergen-specific IgE antibodies to pineapple in the patient’s serum, aiding in the diagnosis of pineapple allergy. While positive results indicate sensitization to the allergen, they may not correlate with the severity of clinical symptoms. It is essential to correlate allergy laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure reliable results. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. For multiple allergen orders, refer to 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions'.
Limitations
Concentrations of allergen-specific IgE measured by this test may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results. A negative test result does not exclude the possibility of pineapple allergy or anaphylaxis. Results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use, as the clinical relevance is undetermined. It is crucial to combine laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity assessments.
