Pineapple (f210) IgE
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test measures Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies specific to pineapple proteins and is used in evaluating allergic sensitization to pineapple. A positive result suggests that the body has produced allergen‑specific IgE antibodies, which may indicate an allergic predisposition to pineapple ingestion.
Special Instructions
Orderable as test code 3048, setup is conducted Monday through Saturday, with results typically available the next day.
Limitations
While elevated IgE indicates sensitization, results do not confirm clinical allergy or predict reaction severity; results must be interpreted in conjunction with clinical history and may not correlate with skin‑prick testing.
