Allergen, Food, Turkey
Also known as: TURKEY
Use
This test measures the level of allergen-specific IgE antibodies to turkey in the blood. It helps to determine if an individual has an allergy to turkey and the probability of an IgE-mediated clinical reaction. The correlation of laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens is essential for accurate diagnosis and management.
Special Instructions
Avoid multiple patient encounters for specimen collection. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Use an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for serum transfer.
Limitations
Allergen results between 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use as their clinical relevance is undetermined. Increasing IgE concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results. A negative test does not rule out clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. Clinical correlation is necessary.
