Allergen, Food, Turmeric IgE
Also known as: TURMERIC
Use
The Allergen, Food, Turmeric IgE test measures the level of IgE antibodies specific to turmeric in the serum, which is used to assess allergic sensitivity. This test is particularly relevant for patients with a history of allergic reactions where turmeric is suspected as a potential allergen. It provides quantitative results that can help in the diagnosis and management of food allergy symptoms related to turmeric, especially for individuals experiencing symptoms such as hives, swelling, or anaphylaxis after turmeric consumption.
Special Instructions
Ensure adequate volume for allergen testing by reviewing the specimen collection and handling instructions. Multiple tests require separate submissions. Ensure the serum is separated from cells within 2 hours of collection and transferred correctly to the specified transport tube to prevent degradation.
Limitations
Test performance and characteristics were determined but not cleared or approved by the U.S. FDA. Test results cannot be used in isolation for a definitive diagnosis of food allergies, and clinical correlation with patient history and other diagnostic information is essential. Conditions like hemolysis or lipemia may affect test results and are, therefore, rejection criteria.
