Allergen, Insects and Venom, Cockroach, German
Also known as: COCKROACH
Use
The Allergen, Insects and Venom, Cockroach, German test is performed to measure allergen-specific IgE levels to the German Cockroach. This test is used to diagnose allergic reactions to the cockroach and assess the clinical reaction probabilities based on IgE levels. The test quantifies the patient's sensitivity to the cockroach allergen, which can be crucial for managing allergies and making informed decisions about exposure prevention and treatment.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. When submitting specimens for multiple allergen orders, refer to 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' on the ARUP website for proper guidance. Use an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for serum transfer.
Limitations
Allergen results of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use as the clinical relevance is undetermined. The correlation of allergy laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens is essential. Despite quantifying allergen-specific IgE levels, these concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin test results. A negative test does not rule out a clinical allergy or anaphylaxis.
