Allergen, Mites, Glycyphagus domesticus IgE
Also known as: G DOMESTIC
Use
The Allergen, Mites, Glycyphagus domesticus IgE test is intended for measuring the concentration of IgE antibodies specific to the Glycyphagus domesticus mite allergens in serum. The presence of IgE antibodies is indicative of sensitization, which may correlate with allergic reactions upon exposure to this specific allergen. The test is used as an aid in the clinical diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergic disorders and to monitor the severity and progression of allergic responses.
Special Instructions
Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible and within two hours of collection to ensure sample integrity. The serum must be transferred to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for assay. For ordering of multiple allergens, refer to Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions provided on the ARUP website.
Limitations
Results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are for specialist interpretation as their clinical relevance is undetermined. While increasing IgE levels indicate increased allergen-specific IgE presence, they may not directly correlate to the clinical presentation or skin test responses. IgE levels should be assessed alongside clinical history and potential in vivo allergen reactivity. Negative results do not exclude the possibility of an allergic condition or anaphylactic reaction.
