Acarus Mite
Use
The Acarus Mite test is used to assess the presence of specific IgE antibodies to the Acarus mite allergen. This test is critical for diagnosing mite-related allergies in patients who present with symptoms such as rhinitis, asthma, or eczema following exposure to mite allergens. The immunoassay provides vital information for allergists to formulate management or avoidance strategies for patients with confirmed mite allergies.
Special Instructions
The test is performed using the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® technology, which is known for its high sensitivity and specificity in allergen-specific IgE testing. Ensure that the sample is collected in the correct tube and handled as per instructions to maintain the integrity of the specimen.
Limitations
This test is limited by the specificity of the antibodies detected; it cannot distinguish between past and current exposure or predict the severity of allergic reactions. False positives or negatives may occur, and results should be considered in conjunction with clinical history and other diagnostic tests. Additionally, allergen exposure variability can affect the presence and levels of specific IgE detected.
