Lepidoglyphus
Use
The Lepidoglyphus test is used for the detection of specific IgE antibodies to Lepidoglyphus in serum. This test is utilized to help diagnose allergic responses to the Lepidoglyphus mite, a common allergen. The results can aid in the management and treatment planning for patients experiencing allergic symptoms.
Special Instructions
Room temperature stability for the specimen is 14 days, refrigerated stability is also 14 days, and frozen stability lasts for 3 months. The specimen must be kept stable through up to 3 freeze/thaw cycles. Ensure that the volume collected is sufficient for testing and handle the specimen as per storage instructions to prevent degradation.
Limitations
This test measures specific IgE antibodies and cannot be used as a standalone diagnostic tool. It must be considered in conjunction with the patient's history, symptoms, and clinical examination. False positives may occur due to cross-reactivity with other antigens, and false negatives may happen in cases with low allergen exposure or recent changes in allergen contact. It does not quantify the severity of the allergic reaction.
