Allergen, Region 16 Respiratory Panel IgE, Inland Northwest (OR, Central and East WA)
Also known as: REG16PANEL
Use
This test is intended for allergen testing for patients in the inland Northwest region, specifically in Oregon, and central and eastern Washington. It measures allergen-specific IgE concentrations to assess potential allergic reactions to substances found within this geographic area. The results help in determining the relationship between the patient's symptoms and their exposure to specific allergens.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to minimize variations. Specimen should be collected in a Serum Separator Tube (SST) and processed promptly to ensure accuracy. It is important to follow collection and preparation guidelines strictly to prevent preanalytical errors, such as hemolysis, which could impact test results.
Limitations
The concentration of allergen-specific IgE detected in this test may not directly correlate with clinical symptoms or reactions in allergen challenges, and a negative test result does not completely rule out clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. It is crucial to interpret results alongside clinical history and in vivo reactivity to allergens, as the clinical relevance of certain IgE concentrations, particularly between 0.10-0.34 kU/L, remains undetermined.
