Allergen, Region 7 Respiratory Panel IgE, Northern Midwest (MI, WI, MN)
Also known as: REG7PANEL
Use
This test is intended for allergen testing for patients residing in the northern Midwest region, specifically targeting allergens prevalent in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. It measures the presence of allergen-specific Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies to assess allergic sensitization. The clinical application of this test aids in identifying and managing allergic diseases of the respiratory tract by quantifying allergen-specific IgE levels which correlate with allergic symptoms. However, these concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results when challenged with a specific allergen.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided when collecting specimens. Ensure proper specimen handling by separating serum from cells as soon as possible, or at most within two hours of collection. Use an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for transferring the serum.
Limitations
Allergen results within 0.10-0.34 kU/L are considered clinically undetermined and should be interpreted by a specialist as they might not correlate with allergy symptoms or skin test results. A negative result cannot exclude the possibility of a clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. Accurate linkage to clinical history and in vivo allergy testing is essential.
