Allergen, Tree, American Beech Tree
Also known as: AMBEE
Use
This test measures the concentration of IgE antibodies specific to the American Beech Tree allergen (Fagus grandifolia). It is used to assess the likelihood of IgE-mediated allergic reactions in individuals with suspected environmental allergies to this specific tree. The test aids in the diagnosis and management of allergic conditions.
Special Instructions
Ensure proper specimen collection by using a serum separator tube and process the serum from the cells within 2 hours. Adequate specimen volume is crucial, especially when ordering multiple allergen tests. Refer to ARUP’s Specimen Collection Instructions for more details.
Limitations
While the test measures allergen-specific IgE levels, these levels do not always correlate with the severity of allergic reactions or skin test results. A result indicating low specific IgE concentration may not exclude the presence of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis, and correlation with clinical history is essential. Concentrations in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are for specialist use due to their uncertain clinical relevance.
