Allergen, Tree, Hickory Shagbark IgE
Also known as: SHAGBARK
Use
The Allergen, Tree, Hickory Shagbark IgE test is used to quantitatively measure the specific IgE antibodies present in the blood. This test helps in diagnosing allergic reactions to Hickory Shagbark, which can manifest as various allergic disorders such as asthma, rhinitis, or allergic conjunctivitis. It can assist clinicians in identifying allergen triggers for patients showing symptoms of hypersensitivity to tree pollens, specifically those of Hickory Shagbark.
Special Instructions
For accurate allergen testing, ensure specimen handling follows proper procedures. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible and transfer it to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Use the right volume for the specific panel ordered. The test is executed at a non-ARUP laboratory, so submit separate specimens for multiple tests ordered concurrently to prevent delays.
Limitations
This test is specific to the Hickory Shagbark allergen IgE antibodies and may not capture the entirety of an individual’s allergic response profile. The test's sensitivity and range are determined by its methodology and do not account for all possible immunological reactions, particularly non-IgE mediated responses. Performance characteristics were established at Eurofins Viracor, and the test hasn't been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Tests not performed strictly at ARUP Labs may differ due to external processing standards.
