Allergen, Weed, Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus) IgE
Also known as: DOCK YEL
Use
Quantitative measurement of allergen-specific IgE concentrations for Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus) to evaluate allergic sensitization. The results help in the diagnosis of IgE-mediated hypersensitivity reactions related to this specific allergen, which can assist clinicians in managing allergic responses. Concentrations are measured in kilounits per liter (kU/L) and class scores are provided to indicate the probability of IgE-mediated clinical reactions.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided before testing. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible, ideally within 2 hours of collection. Use the ARUP Standard Transport Tube for serum transfer. For multiple allergen orders, refer to the 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' available at ARUP.
Limitations
The test measures allergen-specific IgE levels but may not correlate directly with clinical symptoms or skin test results. A negative IgE result does not completely rule out clinical allergy or risk of anaphylaxis. Interpretation must be performed in conjunction with clinical history and other diagnostic evaluations. Results within 0.10-0.34 kU/L are of undetermined clinical relevance and should be evaluated by an allergy specialist.
