Sheep Sorrel (w18) IgE
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test measures immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies specific to sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella) pollen allergens. Elevated specific IgE levels may indicate sensitization or allergic response to sheep sorrel pollen and can assist clinicians in diagnosing allergic rhinitis, hay fever, or other seasonal allergy symptoms.
Special Instructions
This is a single allergen IgE antibody test. Serum is the required specimen. Routine venipuncture is used for collection. The test is not available STAT and is performed Monday through Friday during day shift only.
Limitations
Quantity not sufficient samples may be rejected. Transport must be refrigerated, and specimens are stable for limited time (approximately one week at 2–6 °C). The test does not provide component-level analysis beyond the sheep sorrel IgE; cross-reactivity and co-sensitizations are not assessed.
