Allergen, Epidermals and Animal Proteins, Sheep Epithelium/Wool
Also known as: SHEEP EPI
Use
This test is used to measure allergen-specific IgE levels to Sheep Epithelium/Wool, which is useful for diagnosing allergic diseases and assessing the likelihood of IgE-mediated clinical reaction. The test results help in correlation with patients' clinical history and in vivo reactivity to confirm suspected allergies. The test aids healthcare providers in managing allergies and monitoring response to allergen avoidance or immunotherapy.
Special Instructions
Patient preparation involves avoiding multiple patient encounters to reduce variability. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible and transferred to the ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
Limitations
Concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results. A negative test does not rule out an allergy or anaphylaxis, and results must be interpreted alongside clinical history and in vivo reactivity. The clinical relevance of results between 0.10-0.34 kU/L is undetermined and intended for specialist use.
