Alpha-1-Antitrypsin
Also known as: A1A
Use
Determines alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT) enzyme plasma concentration for the initial evaluation of AAT deficiency.
Special Instructions
Specimen must be handled promptly. After collection, serum or plasma should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours to ensure accurate results.
Limitations
Hemolyzed specimens can significantly affect the accuracy of the test results and are therefore unacceptable. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain specimen integrity and ensure reliable results.
