Anti-gp210 Antibody, IgG
Also known as: GP210 AB
Use
GP210 IgG antibodies can be detected in patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and may be of diagnostic relevance in a subset of patients with PBC who are negative for anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA). These antibodies have a relatively low sensitivity with excellent specificity for PBC. A negative result does not rule out PBC.
Special Instructions
Recommended for the evaluation of individuals with suspected primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) who test negative for anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA). Sample should be collected and transported according to guidelines to ensure valid results.
Limitations
GP210 IgG antibodies have relatively low sensitivity for PBC, meaning that a negative result does not rule out the disease. However, they have excellent specificity, indicating that a positive result is highly indicative of PBC in the absence of anti-mitochondrial antibodies.
