Anti-sp100 and anti-gp210 Antibodies, IgG
Also known as: SP100GP210
Use
This test is recommended for the evaluation of individuals with suspected primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) who test negative for anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA). Anti-gp210 and anti-sp100 antibodies can be detected in patients with PBC and may be of diagnostic relevance in a subset of these patients. The antibodies have relatively low sensitivity but excellent specificity for PBC, and a negative result does not rule out PBC.
Special Instructions
Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection to maintain sample integrity. Transfer the serum to an ARUP standard transport tube for analysis.
Limitations
While the test is specific for primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), it is limited by its relatively low sensitivity. This means that a negative result does not completely rule out the possibility of PBC in patients, especially those who might otherwise meet clinical criteria. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles of samples should be avoided as they might compromise test results.
