Antidepressant Panel Quantitative, Urine
Also known as: ANTIDEP U
Use
The Antidepressant Panel Quantitative, Urine, is designed for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of various antidepressant drugs. It aids in assessing patient adherence and optimizing dosage regimens in individuals undergoing antidepressant therapy. The test can detect 18 different compounds, including both active drugs and metabolites, providing a comprehensive view of the patient's medication status. This facilitates effective management of depression and related psychiatric disorders by ensuring that therapeutic levels are achieved while minimizing side effects or toxicity.
Special Instructions
The test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories, and specimens need to be submitted to National Medical Services (NMS). Separate specimens must be submitted if multiple tests are ordered concurrently. The test requires specific patient preparation and storage conditions as outlined in the specimen preparation instructions.
Limitations
This test does not detect antidepressant drugs other than those specified in the panel. The presence of certain metabolites or other co-administered drugs may interfere with the detection of specific drugs. For example, desmethylsertraline and norcyclobenzaprine may interfere with protriptyline measurement. Patients with variable drug metabolism rates may experience differences in drug and metabolite concentrations, leading to variability in test results. It's crucial to interpret results in the context of clinical findings and other diagnostic tests.
