Beta‑Catenin‑1 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: BCAT1 IHC
Use
Immunohistochemical detection of beta‑catenin expression/localization in tissue or cell specimens is performed as a technical stain for research or diagnostic adjunct purposes. Aberrant cytoplasmic or nuclear localization, compared to normal membrane localization, may support evaluation of tumors with Wnt/APC pathway involvement. Interpretation must be performed separately by pathology if diagnostic interpretation is required.
Special Instructions
This test is performed as a stain-and-return (technical) service only. Submit electronic request or use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) if electronic ordering is not available. Refer to ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure. New York State Department of Health approval applicable.
Limitations
Specimens must be representative tissue or cell block; non‑representative or depleted specimens are unacceptable. If sending precut slides, do not oven bake. Frozen specimens unacceptable. Interpretation is not included; pathologist consultation must be ordered separately. Controls required, interpretation subject to clinical context.
