This test is used to detect hepatobiliary dysfunction and may aid in the diagnosis of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. It is not recommended for detecting inborn errors of bile acid metabolism.

Not provided.
Limitations
The test is not suitable for detecting inborn errors of bile acid metabolism. Hemolyzed or body fluid specimens are unacceptable and will be rejected.

Collect in a serum separator tube or plasma separator tube. Lavender (EDTA) and green (lithium heparin) tubes are also acceptable.
