CD34, QBEnd/10 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CD34 IHC
Use
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining for CD34 using clone QBEnd/10 serves as a technical (stain and return) service, useful for identifying CD34 expression in hematopoietic progenitor cells and vascular endothelial cells. It does not include interpretation by a pathologist and is useful in contexts such as evaluating markers of immaturity in leukemias or diagnosing tumors like gastrointestinal stromal tumors and angiosarcomas when interpreted clinically. This service is technical only, and any diagnostic interpretation must be ordered separately. The test is New York state approved. (Technical stain only.)
Special Instructions
Submit via electronic request. If that capability is not available, use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form #32978 with an ARUP client number. Use tissue transport kit (ARUP supply #47808) available through eSupply or ARUP Connect. Protect paraffin block/slides from heat; if precut slides are sent, do not oven bake.
Limitations
Specimen must be formalin-fixed (10% neutral buffered formalin) and paraffin-embedded (cells in cellblock if cytology). Frozen specimens unacceptable; degraded or non-representative tissue unacceptable. Slides or blocks must avoid excessive heat. If sending precut slides, do not oven bake. Frozen specimens unacceptable. This is a technical stain only and does not include interpretation—pathologist review must be ordered separately.
