Claudin-4 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CLAUD4 IHC
Use
The Claudin-4 by Immunohistochemistry test is used to detect the presence of Claudin-4 protein in tissue or cell samples. This test aids in the diagnosis and differentiation of tumors, as Claudin-4 is commonly expressed in various epithelial-derived cancers. Its presence can be indicative of certain types of malignancies, making it a valuable tool in oncological pathology for guiding treatment decisions.
Special Instructions
IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY ORDERING AND SUBMISSION DETAILS: Submit electronic request. If you do not have electronic ordering capability, use an ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number. For technical assistance, contact ARUP Client Services at (800) 522-2787. Protect samples from excessive heat and transport using a Tissue Transport Kit (ARUP supply #47808 highly recommended). If sending pre-cut slides, do not oven bake.
Limitations
The Claudin-4 immunohistochemistry test is performed as a stain and return technical service; it does not provide quantitative results. This laboratory-developed test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA, and its performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories in a CLIA-certified environment. The results must be interpreted within the context of the specific clinical scenario, and nonrepresentative tissue samples or depleted specimens may lead to inaccurate or inconclusive results.
