Glycophorin A by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: GLYC A IHC
Use
Glycophorin A by Immunohistochemistry is used for the detection of Glycophorin A, a marker of erythroid differentiation, in tissue samples. It is valuable in pathological studies to help identify erythroid lineage in tissues, particularly for diagnosing hematological disorders. It aids in evaluating the presence and distribution of erythroid lineage cells within a sample, which can assist in the differential diagnosis of various blood and bone marrow disorders.
Special Instructions
IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY ORDERING AND SUBMISSION DETAILS: Submit electronic request. If electronic ordering is unavailable, utilize the ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number. For additional technical details, contact ARUP Client Services at (800) 522-2787. Protect paraffin block and/or slides from excessive heat during transport.
Limitations
This test is performed as a technical service only and is limited to providing interpretive data for Glycophorin A detection in tissue samples. It does not include pathological interpretation. The specimens must be appropriately prepared (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded) to ensure accurate results. Depleted or non-representative tissue specimens may compromise the efficacy of the staining process and lead to inconclusive results. Additionally, variations in tissue processing and staining technique may affect the quality and interpretation of staining.
