Opiates, Urine Screen with Reflex to Quantitation
Also known as: OPI RFX UR
Use
This test is useful for general screening in contexts of compliance and/or abuse. It is a screen with reflex testing that is preferred for ruling out opiate exposure. If the specimen screens positive, it will reflex to a confirmation test using Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) which detects and quantifies opiates such as morphine, hydrocodone, and similar compounds.
Special Instructions
The test involves a two-step process where an initial immunoassay screens for opiates, and if positive, a confirmation by LC-MS/MS is performed. This ensures accuracy in detecting opiate exposure. Additional charges apply for the confirmation test. The test is not valid for forensic use.
Limitations
Presumptive negative results could indicate non-compliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection relative to drug administration, poor absorption, diluted or adulterated urine, or limitations of the screening test itself. The test is for medical purposes only and not intended for forensic applications.
