Purines and Pyrimidines Panel, Urine
Also known as: PUPY URN
Use
This test is used to evaluate and monitor patients with disorders related to purine and pyrimidine metabolism. It is also employed to evaluate primary and secondary hyperuricemia.
Special Instructions
Urine specimens need to be transferred to an ARUP standard transport tube with a volume of 3 mL (minimum 2 mL). This test is not performed at ARUP and separate specimens must be submitted if multiple tests are ordered simultaneously.
Limitations
The test may not detect all possible metabolic disorders involving purine and pyrimidine metabolism, and there is potential for variability in results based on sample handling and preparation.
