S Antigen Typing - Patient
Also known as: S AG
Use
The S Antigen Typing - Patient test is used to determine if the S (MNS3) antigen is expressed on the patient's red blood cells. This evaluation is important for blood transfusion compatibility and understanding potential hemolytic reaction risks. If a determination of heterozygosity or homozygosity for the S antigen is required, it is recommended to also order Little s Antigen Typing - Patient (test code 2007721).
Special Instructions
This test has been approved by the New York State Department of Health. To ensure the accuracy of results, the specimen must not be frozen and should be transported as soon as possible.
