Special Stain, Copper (Rhodanine)
Also known as: COPPER SS
Use
This test is a technical stain-and-return service, used to detect copper deposits histochemically in tissue or cellblock specimens. It aids in identifying copper accumulation, often of relevance in hepatic or other tissue pathology.
Special Instructions
Anatomic Pathology Test Request Form (#32960) is recommended for ordering. Submission via electronic request is preferred; if unavailable, use ARUP form #32960. Protect specimens from excessive heat; ship in a tissue transport kit (ARUP supply #47808) available via ARUP Connect. During summer months, ship in a cooled container. This is a technical (stain and return) service only.
Limitations
This is a histochemical stain and return service only, meaning only stained slides or blocks are returned; no interpretive report is provided. Specimens that are non-representative or depleted are unacceptable. Frozen specimens are not accepted.
