Unusual Organism Culture

Use
This test is used for the culture of organisms for which no standalone cultures are available, such as uncommon organisms including Streptobacillus moniliformis or Neisseria gonorrhoeae specimens that are not approved for nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT).
Special Instructions
Specify suspected organism with submission. This culture is for unusual organism requests for which there is no stand-alone culture. Identification and susceptibility tests are billed separately from culture.
Limitations
The test is not cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It is performed in a CLIA-certified laboratory for clinical purposes. Identification methods may vary and include MALDI-TOF and phenotypic methods.
