Invitae Adenomatous Polyposis Panel
Use
The Invitae Adenomatous Polyposis Panel analyzes the APC and MUTYH genes, which are associated with hereditary predisposition to adenomatous polyposis of the colon and colorectal cancer. Multi-gene testing allows for an efficient evaluation of multiple potential genes based on a single clinical indication, aiding in clinical diagnosis, predicting disease prognosis, facilitating early symptoms detection, informing family planning and genetic counseling, and supporting enrollment in clinical trials.
Special Instructions
This test is specifically designed for detecting heritable germline mutations and is inappropriate for somatic mutations detection in tumor tissue. The test can be customized by removing selected genes from the panel.
Limitations
The analysis covers clinically important regions, including coding exons and adjacent intronic sequences. However, certain non-coding regions, structural rearrangements, and detailed variant information like mosaicism or phasing might not be covered or fully resolved. Single-exon copy number events might not be analyzed due to sequence properties or data quality. Sequence changes in promoters, non-coding exons, and other non-coding regions are not guaranteed to be covered.
