Use
The Invitae Hereditary Thyroid Cancer Panel analyzes genes associated with predisposition to thyroid cancer, facilitating diagnosis, prognosis prediction, early detection of symptoms, and family planning. It is designed to detect heritable germline mutations, not somatic mutations in tumor tissue.
Special Instructions
This test is not appropriate for detecting somatic mutations in tumors. Offering broad panel testing ensures efficient evaluation based on a single clinical indication.
Limitations
The test does not analyze variants outside the clinically important regions, including promoter, non-coding exons, or other non-coding regions unless explicitly guaranteed. It may not detect certain structural rearrangements and has limited sensitivity for single exon copy number events due to data quality issues.
